Grimm & Co becomes part of the Ministry of Stories family

We are delighted to announce the official launch of Grimm & Co, the first Ministry-inspired writing centre to open in the UK.

Based in Rotherham, Grimm & Co opened its doors to the public – both real and magical – today. Like Ministry of Stories, Grimm & Co is a writing centre for local children that aims to inspire them to write, build their confidence and open their imaginations to the power and potential of stories.

But, of course, a little like our own Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, Grimm and Co is also an Apothecary for Magical Beings. Founded in 1148 – ‘the darkest hour of the dark ages’ – by the legendary Graham Grimm, Grimm & Co cornered the market in supplying clientele comprising of elves, goblins fairies and other magical beings. Popular products now featuring in their contemporary range include Eternal Ugliness and Giant Belly Button Cleaners.

Like the monster supplies shop, all proceeds from the sales of these goods will support the great work of the charity, working with children from Rotherham and across Yorkshire.

Upstairs from Graham Grimm’s amazing establishment – a reclaimed town centre pub – is a beautiful new space. Inside, children explore writing and creativity, supported by trained volunteer writing mentors from the local community.

When they’ve done that, they whizz to the ground floor down a beanstalk slide. We salute Sheffield based designers, Side by Side, for their huge commitment and brilliant creative work for the organisation, all of which was donated for free.

Since 2013, the Ministry has provided strategic support and advice to Grimm & Co as it gathered momentum. Today, Grimm & Co officially become part of the Ministry of Stories family. As part of the family, we will work in partnership sharing skills and experience, our methodology and the impact of what we do, with the aim of supporting more children across the country with their writing.
